"A THOROUGH FOLLOW-UP IS ESSENTIAL FOR THESE PATIENTS. MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTHCARE IS CLOSELY RELATED TO NONCOMMUNICABLE DISEASES (NCD) AND THEIR RISK FACTORS."
The Maternal and Child Healthcare Program provides mothers with the necessary healthcare from the beginning of their pregnancy until the first month after giving birth. It also covers their children's needs during the first 12 months. These services are included in the Compulsory Medical Plan.
A thorough follow-up of these patients is essential: maternal and child healthcare is closely related to NCDs and their risk factors. Prenatal malnutrition and low birth weight predispose mother and child to obesity, high arterial blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes.
Through the follow-up system of our Maternal and Child Healthcare Program, we generate contact with the mother as from the diagnosis of her pregnancy and we accompany her evolution step by step, recording and simultaneously analyzing the information.
